Create your account
Signing up has two parts. First you create a Clavitor account at checkout. Then you open your new vault and register the device that unlocks it. Clavitor has no master password. The vault opens with a passkey device: Touch ID or Windows Hello, a phone, or a FIDO2 security key.
1. Select your setup
Go to /checkout, or pick a plan on the pricing page. The first step asks three things:
- Country. Pricing follows your country. Tax is calculated at the payment step.
- Plan. Free, Individual and Family are one seat. Business plans start at six seats.
- Vault location. First choose the spare copy: Cross hemisphere, In continent, or No replication. Then pick the city your vault lives in. You and your agents use that city day to day. The replica is a second encrypted copy in another city, used only when the first cannot answer.
2. Your account
Sign in with Google, or enter your email address and type in the six-digit code we send you. The code is valid for ten minutes.
Then accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (required). The security-updates checkbox is optional. Paid plans also have an auto-renewal checkbox, on by default.
3. Your details
Enter your first and last name and a billing address: street, city and postal code. Every plan asks for this, Free included. The company name and tax ID are optional.
- Free: submitting this step creates your vault and takes you to Vaults.
- Paid plans: you continue to payment. Paddle is the merchant of record and handles tax. Once the payment is through, your vault appears under Vaults.
4. Create the vault and register your device
On the Vaults page, click Open next to your vault. A new vault opens on the Create new vault screen.
1. Give the vault a name, for example "Personal" or "Work".
2. Choose the device that will unlock it (see the list below).
3. Complete the browser's passkey prompt. Once the device is registered, tap it twice more: the first tap seals the vault key to the device, the second proves it opens the vault.
The device choices are:
- Touch ID / Windows Hello: fingerprint or face on this computer.
- iPhone or iPad, or Android phone: scan a QR code to connect.
- Security key: a YubiKey, Titan Key or any FIDO2 USB/NFC key.
The vault then opens on Entries. From now on you unlock it with that device. The vault locks itself after 10 minutes without activity.
Before you store anything important
Your device is the only way into the vault. If you lose it, the way back in is a recovery code, and you can only make one while you still have the device. Set up recovery now.
